Parent
Peer Support Training

Welcome to the Peer Support Training for virtual, parent-led peer support groups for parents of children and youth with eating disorders.

This training was developed by Eating Disorders Nova Scotia, the Body Peace Collaborative, and Live Your Truth Peer Support Training.

Following this training, we hope you will feel well equipped to provide support to other families impacted by eating disorders.

Special thanks to Techiya Loewen and Anne Marie Coolen, parent peer supporters, who were instrumental in creating this resource.

This study was funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) grant number 468590.

About the Training

This training consists of 7 Modules and 5 live sessions.  Modules 2-5 include the live session, and so have a Zoom link as well as the readings, reflection and a checklist.

Parent Peer Suport Group Resources are shared throughout the Modules. By the end of the training you will have had a chance to review all of these resources, and practise facilitating discussions with the Resources as a guide.

All the Parent Peer Support Group Resources will be available to families who are participating in the Peer Support Groups.

Should you have any technical difficulties with this platform, please contact Scott Ellis at Scott.ellis@eatingdisordersns.ca
